“Radiant soprano” Agnes Zsigovics has recently been hailed for her “purity of sound and expressivity,” (The Register-Guard), her voice reviewed as “stylish” (The New York Times), “hauntingly beautiful, creamy, velvety, bell-like” (The Morning Call), and “among the best ever” (Early Music Review). A recording artist for Sony BMG Classical, ATMA Classical, and Analekta, Zsigovics tours internationally, appearing with leading choirs and orchestras in the United States, South America, and Europe. She performed in Bach’s St. John Passion with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra under Maestro Helmuth Rilling (2007) and Yannick Nézet-Séguin (2009) and made her Carnegie Hall debut in Weill Hall in 2011.

 

Ms. Zsigovics’ most recent engagements include a debut at the Oregon Bach Festival performing the Monteverdi Vespers, performances of Bach’s Mass in B minor and Cantata BWV 106 at the Bethlehem Bach Festival, Handel’s Messiah with the Guelph Chamber Choir and with Nota Bene Baroque Players, Arvo Part’s Stabat Mater with the Art of Time Ensemble, and a recording of Schutz’s Musikalisches Exequiem for Analekta due for release in October 2014. Her upcoming season includes performances of Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater with the National Ballet of Canada, Bach’s St. Matthew Passion with the Grand Philharmonic Choir, Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas with the Theatre of Early Music, Bach Cantatas with Les Idées heureuses, and a return to the Bethlehem Bach Festival. 

 

Ms. Zsigovics appears on the Juno-nominated album The Voice of Bach with Daniel Taylor and the Prix OPUS nominated classical disc of the year Bach Johannes-Passion with Les Voix Baroques and Arion Baroque Orchestra under Alexander Weimann. Ms. Zsigovics holds a master’s degree from the University of Toronto, where she is currently completing a doctorate of musical arts in voice performance.
