Hilde Haraldsen Sveen

Hilde Haraldsen Sveen is a graduate of College of Music and Hochschule der Künste Berlin. She has performed at several German opera houses. From 1995 to 1998 she worked at Nordharzer Städtebund Theater as lyric coloratura soprano. In 2001 she made ​​her debut at the Norwegian National Opera as Gilda in Rigoletto. Since then she has had several leading roles at the Norwegian National Opera, including as Sophie in Der Rosenkavalier.

 

Sveen is a versatile singer, much sought after as a soloist in oratorios and concerts. She has collaborated on several CD releases of Norwegian music, among others Sigurd Islandmoens' Requiem with the Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra from 2006.

 

 

Hilde Haraldsen Sveen has much experience performing and teaching the songs of Edvard Grieg. Her recording Millom Rosor was recorded at Grieg's Villa, Troldhaugen, with pianist Signe Bakke, and released in 2009. She has also recorded Peer Gynt with the Bergen Philharmonic and has sung Grieg's orchestrated songs with the Moscow Philharmonic, and also in Berlin, Riga, and Liepaja.

 

 

Ms. Haraldsen Sveen has given numerous recitals at the Grieg Museum, Troldhaugen, and is often called on to perform Grieg songs for visiting dignitaries such as Queen Sonja of Norway, Prince Charles and Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall. In 2014 at the International Grieg Piano Competition, she was called upon to sing with the semi-finalists. Hilde Haraldsen Sveen is known for her important work with phonetician Wencke Ophaug regarding Norwegian pronunciation for singers, and gives workshops on Grieg songs internationally. Ms. Haraldsen Sveen is based in Bergen, Norway, where she is Associate Professor in Voice at The Grieg Academy, University of Bergen.
