Terry McKenna

Terry McKenna performs a wide range of musical styles on period and modern guitars and lutes. He is a member of the celebrated early music ensemble the Toronto Consort. He has been a member of such cross-over groups as Ensemble Polaris, Puirt a Baroque and Toronto Masque Theatre. Fool’s Paradyce is a recent music and storytelling project with his wife, Susan Kennedy. This year marks Terry’s 35th season with the Stratford Festival Orchestra and his 22nd season as musical director for Stratford’s Playmakers! Theatre School. Terry welcomes his many opportunities to perform scores by living Canadian composers. He recorded his first feature project, Throw the House Out of the Windowe, on the Marquis Classics label. The working title for his next project is One Thing Leads to the Next. Terry arranged, co-produced and recorded Sylvia Tyson’s music inspired by her novel Joyner’s Dream. He can be heard on numerous cd recordings and concert broadcasts as well as film/television soundtracks. Terry enjoys teaching the guitar programme at Wilfrid Laurier University. Terry plays historical reproduction instruments by Michael Schreiner and Ray Nurse, as well as modern instruments by Jose Ramirez, George Lowden, Lucas and Hanson, among others.
