Barbara Fulton

soprano, actor

Barbara has been an actor with the Stratford Festival for 22 seasons, performing in both musicals and plays. This season she plays Mrs. Beaver in The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe and is a member of the quintet in A Little Night Music. Other roles at Stratford include Frau Schmidt in The Sound of Music, the Widow in The Taming of the Shrew, Jack’s Mother in Into the Woods, Mrs. Keller in The Miracle Worker, Fruma-­Sarah in Fiddler on the Roof, Nicole in Bonjour la, Bonjour, and Peep­Bo in The Mikado.

 

Prior to Stratford, she played Grizabella in the original Canadian company of Cats. Barbara has performed with The Duke Ellington Orchestra and The Glenn Miller Orchestra as part of the Stratford Summer Music festival. Last November in Fredericton she played Aunt March in Little Women. She has recorded two CDs of jazz standards entitled ‘Somebody New’ and ‘Too Close For Comfort’, with husband Paul Shilton.
