Phillip Addis

baritone

Canadian baritone Phillip Addis is praised for his creamy, bright, smooth voice as much as for his spell-binding, daring, yet sensitive interpretations. A rising star on the international stage, Addis has performed in opera, concerts and recitals throughout Canada, the United States, Europe and Japan.

 

Following his 2012 debut in Rome as Demetrius in Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, with Maestro James Conlon conducting, he has been active in a number of productions with the Maestro celebrating the Britten Centenary including Britten’s War Requiem (Cincinnati May Festival), Curlew River (Opera de Roma), The Burning Fiery Furnace (Ravinia Festival) as well as the upcoming War Requiem and Cantata Misericordium in Los Angeles, where he will also take part in the LA Opera’s production of Mozart’s The Magic Flute. The 2013-2014 season will feature recitals in Toronto, Montreal and Paris with pianist Emily Hamper and return engagements with the Cincinnati Opera for Silent Night,  Paris’ Opéra Comique in Debussy’s Pelléas et Mélisande as well as to Pacific Opera Victoria for Le Nozze di Figaro. He will also make his debut at the Canadian Opera Company in Puccini’s La Bohème.
