SUNDAY 20 JUNE 2021
Following creative differences with longtime collaborator Alfred Hitchcock, American film composer Bernard Herrmann moved to England for a change of scenery. As his final concert work, Hermann composed his Souvenirs de Voyage for Clarinet Quintet - a lyrical reminiscence of his time in the English and Italian countrysides. A Russian diplomat posted to Vienna, Count Andrey Razumovsky became known for the string quartets he commissioned from Beethoven which were to include, by request, themes from his Russian homeland. The ISQ performs the second of Beethoven’s “Razumovsky” Op. 59 quartets.
